Designer + Artist
Bianca Faye has been practicing and exhibiting as a contemporary artist for over 15 years. Her professional practice also extends into fashion and costume design, including work for Film, TV and Theatre, most recently on Network Tens So You Think You Can Dance.
Her sculptural works and installations discuss the relationship between humans and nature, the awkward place between the synthetic and the natural. The work is often interactive or performative, inviting the audience in and asking us to re-assess our observations. Layers conceal or reveal what is beneath and ideas of dressing emerge, from fashion and the human form to the covering of architectural structures and natural forms such as rocks and sticks in skin-like layers. The media chosen varies with each work as the intention is to remain honest to ideas and the production and materials used.
